“Recent Developments in the Treatment of Anxiety Disorders.”

About the Presenter: 

After receiving his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1983, Dr. Telch completed a post-doctoral fellowship in behavioral medicine and cardiovascular epidemiology in the Department of Psychiatry and the Center for Disease Prevention at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Telch joined the clinical psychology faculty at the University of Texas at Austin in 1986 where he is currently Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry and founding director of the Laboratory for the Study of Anxiety Disorders and former Director of the Clinical Psychology Training Program from 1993-1998. He is a fellow of the Association for Psychological Science and the Association for the Advancement of Preventative Psychology. Dr. Telch is internationally recognized for his scientific research on the nature and treatment of panic, phobias and anxiety-related disorders. He has served as a scientific advisor to the National Institute of Mental Health’s Anxiety Disorders Education Program and the National Institute of Mental Health’s Panic Disorder Program. His published work has tackled a broad range of questions related to the nature and treatment of pathological fear across the full spectrum of anxiety disorders, and have utilized multiple research strategies including clinical trials, prospective longitudinal risk studies, experimental psychopathology, and controlled laboratory manipulations of cognitive, behavioral, and pharmacological strategies during exposure therapy. In addition, many of the graduate students that Dr. Telch has trained have gone on to make significant contributions to the field of anxiety disorders.

Meeting Location and Parking: 

The meeting will take place at the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center (1900 University Avenue, Austin, TX 78705). The CAPA meeting room will be on the second floor overlooking the restaurant and is glassed in. Go through the restaurant and take a right to the stairs to the second floor, to Meeting Rooms 1 and 2 or go to the end of the buffet line and then take the elevator to the second floor and the meeting room is right there. You can also access the new meeting rooms 1 and 2 via the "grand stairway” to the second floor and going past the length of the restaurant on the floor below.   

There is a parking garage in the hotel, or you can use metered street parking if you prefer. 

Cancellations: Cancellations must be received no later than 3 business days prior to the event in order for a refund to be processed. Cancellations received after that time will have a refund processed.

Please note online registration will close at 5pm on the Thursday prior to the meeting. In order to expedite certificate distribution following monthly meetings, we request that you pre-pay online no later than noon on the Thursday before the meeting. If you prefer to register by check, please mail your payment to CAPA @ PO Box 1448, Cedar Park, TX 78630 postmarked no later than the Monday prior to the meeting. Those who pre-register as noted will receive expedited PD certificate distribution. On-site registrants will be processed within 7 business days. All PD certificates will be emailed to signed in attendees.
