About the Presentation:

Dr. Flynn, experienced psychologist and attorney, will discuss the legal and ethical aspects of everyday business practices. He will cover the language needed in business forms, privacy and safety issues in electronic and internet communications, and the usefulness of forming business entities. Dr. Flynn's talk with revolve around the following key questions:

1) Do your forms work for you or do you simply have the forms? Your informed consent may need some improvement in its language.  Consider whether your forms consistently use specific, unambiguous, enforceable language-and learn how these language concepts impact the quality of your informed consent and other client documents.

2) Do you use the internet in your practice? Do you email? Do your clients text you? There are some important things you should know about communicating with clients and with one another using email, text, and websites, yes, including your Face Book page.

3) Just having a corporate entity, such as a Professional Limited Liability Company, is not sufficient.  Do you know how to use your PLLC? This presentation will discuss the reasons for creating a corporate entity, what your best options are, and how to organize and use your entity to your advantage.

Workshop Learning Objectives:

1) Understand the importance of specific, enforceable, and unambiguous language in office consent and notice forms.

2) Recognize the potential problems in the use of email, text, and the internet, as well as some solutions.

3) Learn the ways to use a proper business entity to gain flexibility in the operations and protection of psychologists’ businesses.
